In my opinion, these Olive Garden-style breadsticks are even better than the ones at Olive Garden!

Ingredients (makes about 10 breadsticks):

  • 2-3 C. all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 package rapid rise yeast (2 1/4 tsp.)
  • 1 tsp. white sugar
  • 1 C. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • about 1 tsp. butter
  • garlic salt
  • about 1/4 tsp. dried basil
  • about 1/4 tsp. dried Oregano

Instructions:

  1. Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl. Stir in olive oil. Then add flour and salt at the same time. Mix until it starts forming a ball. Add in more flour if it’s sticky. I think I ended up using about 3 C. total. Knead a little bit.
  2. Cover with cloth and let sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
  4. On a greased and lightly floured cookie sheet, roll out the dough so it’s flat and covers the cookie sheet. Using a pizza cutter, cut into breadstick shapes. It’s okay if they aren’t cut perfectly, but this will make it easier to tear them apart nicely after baking. Cover with cloth and let sit about 10-20 minutes.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Spread butter on hot breadsticks. Sprinkle with garlic salt, basil, and Oregano if you want to, but they are great even with just a little salted butter melted on top!
Delicious with pasta and salad or soup and salad! I love these breadsticks with Crock Pot Lasagna!
