Calzones are one of my favorite caloric extravagances 🙂 They have all the goodness of pizza wrapped up in a warm hug. But I digress!

Ingredients (makes 2 large calzones):

  • 1 roll of Pillsbury Pizza Crust
  • pizza sauce
  • green bell pepper, diced
  • mushrooms, diced
  • grated cheese (I used a combination of Mozarella, Provolone, and Cheddar)
  • pepperoni (cut in quarters)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a cookie sheet. Cut in half to make two separate calzones.
  3. Spread a spoonful of pizza sauce on half of each piece of dough. Sprinkle the bell peppers, mushrooms, cheese, and pepperoni pieces on top of the sauce. Remember to leave about 1/2 inch around the edges of the dough so you can seal the sides together.

4.  Fold the side of the dough without sauce or toppings on top and pinch together the edges to seal the calzone.

5.  Puncture the top with a fork several times to let the steam escape while baking.

6.  Bake for about 25 minutes at 375 degrees F.

You can serve the calzones with warm pizza sauce for dipping and/or extra sauteed bell pepper and mushrooms. Enjoy!
