This meatloaf recipe was easy and turned out great! Our whole family enjoyed it very much and it even made our apartment smell so good while it was cooking up in the oven. The sauce was delish, but I think it would be just as good if you decide to skip the sauce and just squirt a little ketchup on each piece before serving. Either way. : )
Ingredients (makes about 10 servings):
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef (I used 93% lean and 7% fat)
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped small
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped small
- 2 small stalks of celery, chopped small
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 C. milk
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 C. dried bread crumbs
- 1 pinch dried Oregano
- salt and pepper
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. mustard
- 1/3 C. ketchup
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Heat a pan with butter to medium-high heat. Saute the onion, bell pepper, and garlic for a minute or two. Remove from heat.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, sauteed vegetables, milk, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, Oregano, and salt and pepper. Form into a loaf and place in a lightly greased 9×13 inch glass baking pan.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Pour over the loaf and bake for about 1 1/2 hours, or until meat is cooked thoroughly.
*Inspired by my sister andย THIS recipe.
I tasked the hubby with throwing this in the crockpot the other day for dinner. It turned out so good! I wouldn’t change a thing. I also shared it on my blog today — linking back to you of course ๐ Thanks for sharing!!
