Just to let you know, I’ve never actually tasted any Chicken Tikka Masala before attempting this recipe, so I don’t know what Chicken Tikka Masala is supposed to taste like, but this recipe was delicious and so flavorful!
[Note: According to Justin’s comment in the comment section of this post, if you want to make Tikka Masala correctly, you should include a little Garam Masala spice to the recipe.]
Ingredients:
- 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thawed and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 6 oz. plain yogurt (I used Greek yogurt)
- 4 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 C. cream (I used Half and Half)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
Instructions:
Throw all the ingredients into a crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until chicken is cooked thoroughly. Yep, that easy!
Serving Suggestion: Serve over steamed rice, with Indian flatbread, like Naan or Roti, and sliced cucumbers and/or grapes.
In order for this to be a correct Tika Masala you need to have Garam Masala Spice added in someplace. Maybe 2 tbsp or so. But otherwise receipe looks great.
Hi Justin,
Thanks for the comment! I had no idea there was such thing as Garam Masala. Both recipes I looked at to make Tikka Masala had no mention of that spice. I hope to make the correct version of Tikka Masala someday. 🙂
Just added a note to the post about your comment so other readers can look into adding Garam Masala next time they make Chicken Tikka Masala.
Thanks again!
