Baking Powder Biscuits Snack Recipe

You may want to bookmark this recipe if you like biscuits! These baking powder biscuits are light and fluffy. Not too salty. Very easy to make— I love how they don’t call for buttermilk because that’s not an everyday item in our refrigerator. Enjoy the recipe!

Ingredients (for 12 biscuits):

  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 C. shortening
  • 1 C. milk
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in shortening until the mixture looks like a bunch of small crumbs.
  4. Add milk and mix until dry mixture is absorbed.
  5. Lightly grease a baking sheet and spoon about 1/4 C. of the mixture onto the baking sheet for each biscuit.
  6. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until biscuit tops show a light gold color. -best if served warm.baking powder biscuits
These biscuits make a great breakfast or brunch if you slice them in half and spread some butter or jam (We used Tropical brand preserves, Triple Berry) on each side. You can also serve these baking powder biscuits with lunch or dinner, perhaps with mashed potatoes and gravy.
