Ingredients (makes 3 2-slice servings):

  • 2 Tbsp. white flour
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 dashes of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 6 slices bread (I used Open Nature 100 % natural Whole Grain White bread)
  • a little butter to grease the pan
Instructions:
  1. In a shallow dish (or any dish big enough to dip a slice of bread into) whisk together flour, milk, eggs, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar. You may need to replenish some of the cinnamon after dipping every other slice (I think the cinnamon helps make the french toast look brown and crispy instead of yellow and eggy). Stir the mixture a little bit before dipping each slice of bread so that all the flour doesn’t get caked down on the bottom of the dish.
  2. Heat pan or griddle to medium heat and grease lightly with butter. You may need to add a little butter after every two slices of bread.
  3. Dip each side of the bread into the egg mixture and place on greased pan. Cook each side until golden brown.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as syrup, butter, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, whipped cream, or fresh fruit.
