Ingredients (yielding 2 sandwiches):

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 can tuna (drain out the water)
  • about 2 or 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise (start out with less and add more if you think it’s too dry)
  • optional: cheddar cheese
  • about 1 tsp. butter or margarine

Instructions:

  1. Mix drained tuna with mayonnaise in a smallish-sized bowl (like a cereal bowl).
  2. Lightly butter one side of each piece of bread.
  3. Spread tuna on two of the pieces of bread (not on the sides with the butter.) and sprinkle some cheese on top of the tuna spread.
  4. Close the sandwiches so that the buttered sides of the bread or all on the outside.
  5. Cook each side of the sandwich on medium heat until golden brown and crispy.

Fresh fruit or melon complement these tuna sandwiches very well!
